Senior Capstone Project – Baja Competition

The NMT Baja SAE team competes annually in a four-day off-road engineering competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Teams design, build, and race single-seat all-terrain vehicles through rigorous dynamic and endurance events.

The wheel hub on display was created using generative design AI to reduce weight while maximizing strength. This prototype demonstrates how students apply advanced design and manufacturing tools to real engineering challenges. Mechanical Engineering students can select Baja SAE as their Capstone project through the Junior/Senior Design Clinic Series.
