with Los Alamos National Lab on catalytic reaction processes

Congratulations go to New Mexico Tech associate professors Dr. Sanchari Chowdhury and Dr. Pabitra Choudhury, along with their Los Alamos National Lab collaborator, Dr. Prashant Padmanabhan, for the grant from the Department of Energy in the amount of $750,000 over three years.
The project, led by Dr. Chowdhury, is titled “Light Mediated Synthesis of Single Atom and Single Atom Alloy Catalysts,” and will investigate development of synthesis methods at the single atom level in order to provide more precise technology that is both environmentally and industry friendly.
This award is a part of the FAIR program (Funding for Accelerated, Inclusive Research) to build research capacity in historically underrepresented institutions. New Mexico Tech is an HSI, a designation from the Dept. of Education for colleges with a Hispanic student population of more than 25%. In fact, NM Tech has nearly 40% Hispanic students.
The grant will support four students, graduate and undergraduate. The students will get hands-on experience at Los Alamos National Labs in the development and use of broad-spectrum time-resolved absorption spectroscopy to study photoexcited charge carrier dynamics.
