Fidel Student Center
The Joseph A. Fidel Student Services Center is New Mexico Tech's student union and is home to many offices and areas including:
First Floor:
- NMT Bookstore-New Mexico Tech boasts a bookstore that offers merchandise for faculty, students, Alumni, First Responders, and town locals. Come in or shop online!
- NMT Dining and Fire & Ice Coffee Shop- Full-service caterer operating a buffet-style eatery and a coffee shop in the Fidel Student Union Building.
- Counseling Center- The Counseling Center utilizes a brief, solution-focused counseling model in which individual therapy sessions are offered on a short-term basis.
- Student Health Center- The Student Health Center is a licensed medical office that is open full-time to students (full/part-time) and some dependents.
- Game Room- Board games, video games, ping pong and billiards can all be found at the NMT Game Room. New Mexico Tech students can play for FREE with their student ID.
- Post Office- New Mexico Tech Campus Post Office is an official United States Post Office for the convenience of NMT faculty, staff, and students.
- Student Government Association- Exist to facilitate the improvement of the campus by communicating student concerns to the administration. They also host many events for student enjoyment including the 49ers and Spring Fling weekends and help fund campus clubs.
The second floor includes:
- Office of Admission- Whether you are just beginning your journey or you are already on the road to becoming a Techie; high school, home school, or transfer student, our goal is to make your experience as effortless and enjoyable as possible.
- Student Affairs- The Division of Student Affairs is here to support your journey by providing dynamic programs, valuable resources, and a vibrant campus experience.
- Auxiliary Services- Providing a variety of services to support campus life for students, faculty, staff, and alumni and guests of the university, while remaining financially self-supporting.
- Cashier- The Cashier's Office is the centralized area for cashiering, depository, and collection functions. Cashiers process all payments made to NM Tech.
- Center for Graduate Studies- The New Mexico Tech Center for Graduate Studies offers advanced degree and research opportunies in science, engineering, mathematics, and more, at both Masters and Doctoral level.
- Financial Aid- The mission of the New Mexico Tech Financial Aid Office is to assist in the reduction of financial barriers for those who wish to pursue a post-secondary education. New Mexico Tech makes every effort to make our undergraduate education affordable for everyone: new students, continuing students, and transfer students. Assistance comes in the form of institutional scholarships, financial aid, and student employment.
- Registrar- The New Mexico Tech Registrar’s Office supports the overall mission of the Institution by upholding academic policies, preserving the integrity of academic records, and providing procedural and administrative support for all students from the application stage to degree completion and beyond.
- Residential Life-The Office of Housing & Residence Life cultivates a residential experience that is safe, supportive, and equity-minded by creating holistic growth opportunities that align with the Division of Student Affair's Mission. We aspire to build a residential experience that is research-driven and assist students in reaching their fullest potential.
- Student Access Services- The mission of Student Access Services (SAS) is to provide equal opportunities and access to education, programs, and activities for students with disabilities by increasing campus accessibility and removing barriers. Disability is an aspect of diversity integral to society and supported by SAS, the Division of Student Affairs, and is guided by the University’s mission to foster a welcoming and inclusive community.
- Student Accounts/Bursar's Office- Student Accounts, also known as Accounts Receivable, is a subdivision of Business Operations. Student Accounts handles all student related financial issues such as billing, deferred payments, sponsored students, financial hardships, etc.
- Student Leadership and Engagement with Career Services-We offer opportunities and facilitate involvement for students to pursue experiences through our Student Leader Ambassador Program, campus events, and clubs & organizations gaining personal growth in conjunction with reaching their academic goals. Career Services provides opportunities for students to develop leadership, career readiness, communication, and other essential life skills.
In addition to student support offices, Fidel Center also contains the Atrium, a dining room, open areas on each floor, a Terrace, a Ballroom that can divided into three sections, a computer lab, and the Quiet Lounge. Each of these areas may be reserved for meetings, reception, and other events by completing a reservation form.
