Dear Alumni and Friends,

Greetings from NMT’s College of Engineering!

As you read this letter, another class of NMT graduates will be crossing the stage, turning their tassels, and earning their hoods. I’m proud to say that over 200 engineering and computer science graduates will be stepping into the world, ready to contribute.

Like all years, the 2025–2026 academic year brought both challenges and victories. Shifts in federal funding have changed the landscape for students and faculty. Thanks to donor-supported endowments, New Mexico Tech has been able to financially support students and faculty who might otherwise have been impacted by funding cuts.

The 2025–2026 academic year also brought growth in undergraduate enrollment. With this increase, we remain focused on ensuring students have access to the strong professional development and hands-on experiences that define an NMT education, including preparation for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, Junior and Senior Design projects, and opportunities for students to present their work at national conferences.

Looking ahead, we are focused on expanding and strengthening these experiences through increased support as well as a new First-Year Recruiting Scholarship designed to attract outstanding engineering students to New Mexico Tech.

Many of you know firsthand how a New Mexico Tech education can shape both careers and lives. Today, I invite you to join us in creating similar opportunities for the next generation of students. Within this brochure, you’ll find an overview of the College of Engineering’s current priorities. I welcome the opportunity to connect with you about ways you can support your department or invest in the broader student experience.

Thank you for continuing to be such an important part of the New Mexico Tech community.

Sincerely,

Corey Leclerc

Dean of Engineering
