MinerCTF-Mining for Flags-Sponsored by the Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NMCCoE)

For 49ers this year, in addition to the on-campus events, we will have an online capture the flag cybersecurity competition (with great cybersecurity gadgets for the top performers). In addition to prizes for the top three competitors, the group that performs best (students vs alumni)  will have bragging rights as the better hackers. The scores for the two teams will be based on the average performance of active participants. The competition will be open online Thursday, Friday and Saturday with winners announced at the brunch behind the President's house Sunday. 

 
Will the Young Guns or the Graduated Gladiators prevail?  Note - the teams may vote in the discord to change their names...

Things to Know: 
1. Online registration only- no in person registration.  Each person must register themselves.
2. Bibs must be picked up from Gina Chavez in Brown 200 the week before the event
3. Must have your bib to participate. 
4. Must wear closed toe shoes 
5. No drones
6. Last bus leaves at 7:45 am

7. All participants must be 18 or older

8. No pets allowed

Swim Event 

The Miners Swim Club is hosting a Friendly Swim Competition and snacks with fruits, drinks, and pizza (when finish).
The event focuses on individuals competing in all four competitive strokes at 25 yards and Mixed Relays 4 x 50  "Freestyle & Medley": depending on the number of participants, it will be randomized by heats and then select the 6 best times for the Final, hence some prize for the 3 Best. During the event, we want to offer them a drink with electrolytes, energy bars, chocolate bars, bananas and at the end Drinks, Pizza, and some dessert.

Pool Party-Featuring Cardboard Boat Races

The Cardboard Boat competition is a competition where students can display their engineering creativity and team building skills by working in teams of 4 to create a floatable cardboard boat. Each team has 1 hour to design and build a boat made from materials provided (Cardboard, duct tape, etc). After, the teams will race their design across NMT Pool (50m). During the building period a diving board contest will take place.
