Department Facilities
The NMT Chemistry Department is housed exclusively in the just completed Lopez Hall; equipped with all necessary modern instrumentation.

The Departmental student lounge provides space for students to study and relax. Tutors are onsite during afternoon and evening hours to help with questions regarding General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Quantitative Analysis classes. A small library of reference texts provides students with relevant study aides. And, computers with Internet access are provided for use on homework, laboratory and research projects.

Laboratory facilities support research in all major areas of chemistry, as well as environmental and medicinal chemistry. The Department maintains a full complement of modern analytical instrumentation.
This includes:
Spectrometers
- Nuclear Magnetic Spectrometers
- UV-VIS Spectrometer
- FTIR Spectrometer
- Flame AA Spectrometer
- Fluorometer
- ESR Spectrometer
- Raman Spectrometer
Chromatographs
- GC and GC-MS
- HPLC
Other Instruments
- Differential Scanning Calorimeter
- Polarimeter
- Refractometer
Each of these instruments is used during the course of the undergraduate laboratory curriculum. Additionally, each can be directly used by undergraduates conducting independent research projects.
Our Departmental computational modeling facilities allow students to access state-of-the-art software packages and computers. Students can complete calculations using modeling lab facilities in support of other research projects.
