NMT’s sponsored projects lifecycle is supported by coordinated teams that guide proposals from idea to award and through financial closeout.

Pre-Award 
Partners with PIs to ensure proposals meet sponsor, university, and federal requirements. Services include opportunity fit, timelines, budget development and justification, compliance checks, editorial review, and electronic submission.

Contracting — Agreements and Subrecipients
Coordinates pre-award agreements and award negotiation, and manages the set-up of subawards and subcontracts in collaboration with institutional offices.  awards@nmt.edu

Post-Award — Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA)
SPA establishes accounts, monitors expenditures, processes cost and budget transfers, oversees invoicing, receivables, financial reporting, cost share tracking, and financial closeout. 

Cost Accounting — Office of Cost Accounting & Reporting (OCAR)
Stewards sponsored finances and institutional reporting: Space Survey, Direct/Indirect cost guidance, Effort Reporting, and Service Centers, and Audited Financial Reports. 

Compliance, Risk & Safety — Office of Research Compliance and Safety
Research compliance policies, training, and forms for RCR/COI, human/animal subjects, export control, and research security. 

Shared Research Infrastructure — Research Centers, Research Facilities
Core facilities, centers, and institutes; access, utilization, and service information. 

IP, Industry & Commercialization — Office of Innovation Commercialization (OIC)
Disclosures, patents, licensing, and industry partnerships through the Office of Innovation Commercialization.
