Welcome to the New Mexico Tech Property Control Office.
We're here to help departments manage University property from the time it's purchased until it's transferred, surplused, or retired. Whether you need to tag a new asset, request a pickup, complete your annual inventory, or find answers to property-related questions, we're here to help.
Our goal is to provide clear guidance, responsive service, and efficient processes while ensuring compliance with University, state, and federal property requirements.
How We Can Help?
The Property Control Office is responsible for:
- Tagging capital equipment, titled assets, computers, and servers with New Mexico Tech Property Control Numbers (PCNs)
- Maintaining accurate asset records throughout the life of each piece of University property
- Coordinating the University's annual inventory process
- Promoting responsible stewardship of University assets through equipment reutilization, transfers, and environmentally responsible disposal.I
- Ensuring compliance with University, state, and federal property regulations and audit requirements

Did You Know?
• Before purchasing new, check the Surplus Reutilization Program. You may find exactly what your department needs at no cost.
• Departments may claim available surplus furniture, equipment, electronics, and other University property at no cost.
• Need to dispose of University property? Submit a Pickup & Disposal Request, and we'll coordinate a pickup with your department.
• Received new property? Notify Property Control as soon as it arrives so we can tag and record it promptly. All eligible assets must be reported within 30 days of receipt.
