Dr. O'Malley's Intro to Mechanical Engineering Design freshman class was tasked with designing and building prototype meteorite shields to protect a space craft or satellite from a meteorite shower.

EMRTC used 5 pounds of C4 to generate mock-up meteorite impacts (hex nuts) to test our shield design. This project was funded by EMRTC and the NMSGC.
