NMT Foundation Produces Video To Thank Relief Fund Donors
June 17, 2020
The NMT Foundation posted a new video to YouTube that features university president Dr. Stephen Wells, and a host of students who recorded vidoes of thanks.
“This has been called our Random Acts of Kindness campaign, and it just shows you the type of spirit that exists not only within NMT, but within our alumni and other stakeholders who value this institution." Dr. Wells said In the video. "We will get through this and we will do it with the random acts of kindness that you’ve already participated in and the determination and diligence that is part of our ethos of campus.”
The New Mexico Tech Advancement Office and the NMT Foundation launched the effort to provide financial help to students in late March. The university encouraged everyone to join the Random Acts of Kindness Campaign, which raised more than $150,000 for the COVID-19 Student Emergency Relief Fund.
New Mexico’s stay-at-home order means many students found themselves out of work because of business closures. This fund assisted NMT students who were suddenly trying to cope with unexpected expenses due to COVID-19, including travel costs to return home, technology needs to participate in online courses, rent, utilities, and other unexpected financial strains.
The video features a handful of students who recorded their own 'Thank you' messages, and a message from President Dr. Stephen Wells.
