Robots To Rumble in ‘Miner Mayhem 2025’
March 24, 2025

New Mexico Tech's Mechanical Engineering department invites the Socorro community to witness the electrifying Miner Mayhem 2025 robot tournament on March 29 outside Macey Center on the New Mexico Tech campus.
Students in grades 6-12, their parents, and coaches from all over the state will bring their creations and compete in the various arenas, sorted by the type and weight of their bot. This showcase of student ingenuity promises a thrilling day of competition and innovation, trial and error, triumph and defeat.
The venue this year is the parking lot of Macey Center, which will transform into an arena of robotic prowess as teams of New Mexico’s budding engineers put their creations to the test.
Expect to see a diverse array of robotic challenges, from intricate obstacle courses to head-to-head battles of strength, agility, and survival of the fittest. This is a chance to cheer on the young inventors who are pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
"Miner Mayhem is more than just a competition," said Dr. Curtis O’Malley, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering and tournament director, "It's a celebration of creativity and problem-solving, and it’s just a lot of fun.”
Whether you're a tech enthusiast, a student curious about STEM, or simply looking for a fun and engaging afternoon, Miner Mayhem has something for everyone.
Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
