New Mexico Tech proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
September 19, 2024

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, it’s a fitting time to recognize and honor our identity as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. We take immense pride in ranking first nationally as the best Hispanic-serving university among small public colleges, according to Niche.com. This recognition reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all our students.
Our beautiful campus, often met with appreciative gasps, is a testament to the rich Hispanic influences that shape our architecture and cultural landscape. Our student clubs, such as the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, embody the spirit of diversity and inclusion that is central to our community. And as we look forward to the holiday season, we are excited to host "Mariachi Christmas" at the Macey Center for the Performing Arts on Dec. 6, a celebration of music and culture that brings us together.
New Mexico Tech’s home, the charming small town of Socorro, is steeped in Hispanic American history and culture. It stands as a shining example of placemaking excellence, where Indigenous and Spanish heritage is preserved and celebrated. At the same time, Socorro has become a catalyst for innovation in science, technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, and math through its close ties with NMT.
Warm regards,
