SOCORRO, N.M. – New Mexico Tech recently received a donation of a top-shelf software package valued at $86 million for three years from Schlumberger Corp.

“The software has been used intensively by our undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty for learning, teaching and doing research,” said Dr. Tan Nguyen, chair of the Petroleum Engineering Department.

The software package includes more than 15 modules such as Eclipse, Pipesim, Olga, DrillBench, Petrel, FrontSim Steamline, and more.

Nguyen said the donated software package is what students will eventually use once they graduate and work in industry. The donation was made to the Petroleum Engineering Department and the Petroleum Recovery Research Center (PRRC)
