Mikell Coleman Hired as First-ever Director of Research Compliance

SOCORRO, N.M. – After working as Tech’s Student Conduct Coordinator and Title IX Investigator, Mikell Coleman accepted a new position with the Research Office to be the inaugural Director of Research Compliance, effective September 16, 2019.
While in the Dean of Students Office, Coleman has assisted with several policy revisions,
and with the implementation of investigation and adjudication procedures for Title
IX, and student conduct matters. Coleman (pictured at right) will continue to be a
campus resource for sexual misconduct concerns as well as other campus-wide safety
efforts. Assistant Vice President for Student and University Relations, Peter Phaiah
said, “Mikell will be missed in the Dean of Students Office, but Tech is fortunate
to retain this diligent and knowledgeable employee.”
In her new role as Director of Research Compliance, Coleman will seek input and feedback from various NMT stakeholders. The new Office of Research Compliance will be consolidating various safety and compliance areas under her leadership. Coleman earned her bachelor's from Northern Arizona University and her juris doctorate from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Dr. Van Romero, Vice President for Research said, “Mikell has a good mix of legal education and investigatory practice to lead this new office. NM Tech is committed to promoting a culture of safety and research integrity throughout our campus community.”
