Psychology Department Welcomes Special Guest Speaker

Professor will discuss opioids as part of the “Drugs and Behavior” class
SOCORRO, N.M. – Dr. Michael. H. Ossipov, renowned researcher in neuroscience and pharmacology, will be speaking on opioids in an open talk in the Psychology Department.
This talk will be at 3:20 p.m. in Cramer 101 as a guest lecturer for Dr. Frank Etscorn’s
class, Psych 212, Drugs and Behavior.
Ossipov is a professor emeritus in the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine in Tuscon. He is also a senior medical writer for InVentiv Health Clinical, a fully-integrated biopharmaceutical solutions organization.
Etscorn said Ossipov is an expert on opioids and toxicity, which has become a hot-button issue in recent years with an explosion of opioid addiction and fatalities. This open talk will conclude with an open discussion about topics related to opioids.
Ossipov earned his bachelor’s at the University of Colorado in biology/biological sciences. He earned his master’s and Ph.D. at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and completed a post-doc at the University of Iowa.
This class lecture is free and open to the public.
