Old miners logoSOCORRO, N.M. (KRQE) - New Mexico Tech officially has a mascot. 

Students, faculty and alumni overwhelmingly selected the "miners" to be the face of the university, which is formally called the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

Miners got 61 percent of the vote, trouncing the other finalists: the roadrunners, the isopods, the bighorns and the burros. 

NMT's marketing department is now working on possible designs for the mascot, which the school community will vote on next month. ...
