NM Tech No. 4 for Hispanic-serving colleges

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology has carved out a nice niche in the middle of the state.

The Socorro-based university earned this week a No. 4 national ranking for “Best Hispanic-Serving Institutions in America” on the college ranking site niche.com. Three other New Mexico universities also cracked the top 100: New Mexico State University (35), University of New Mexico (69) and Eastern New Mexico University (83).

“This kind of recognition is exciting, and it is certainly a good recruitment tool in New Mexico, especially since we are a minority-majority state,” said N.M. Tech President Stephen G. Wells, adding the potential impact the university can have goes beyond just the students.
