Current research from Dr. Laura Waters, assistant professor in NMT’s Earth and Environmental Studies Department, is featured in the magazine for the Smithsonian Institute for April 2024.

Dr. Waters was a Peter S. Buck Postdoctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in 2015-17, and the article, "Meet the Smithsonian Fellow Alumni Helping to Save the Planet,” highlights former Buck Fellows’ work, including Dr. Waters’ research on the role of rare minerals and green technology.

She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan in Experimental Geochemistry and Volcanology in 2013.
