Mining in New Mexico is regulated through State Laws that can be found in rule form and in numerous statutes. Statutes can be found in New Mexico Statutes Annotated 1978, Chapter 69 - Mines. Regulations can be found in New Mexico Administrative Code, Title 19, Chapter 6.
New Mexico requires that any accident at a mine site be reported to the State Mine Inspector within 30 minutes of the event.
It is also the law that each mine in the State of New Mexico must file an "Emergency Notification Plan" with the New Mexico State Mine Inspector at the New Mexico Bureau of Mine Safety.
