NMT Joins Super STEM Saturday as Sponsor

Students and professors provide demonstrations of various science and engineering research activities at NMT

 

Two Tech students staff a booth ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico Tech joined as sponsors of the annual Super STEM Saturday event hosted by the Air Force Research Lab at the Albuquerque Convention Center in late February.

More than 4,000 young students and their parents attended the event, which featured booths and science demonstrations throughout the day.

The event included a variety of local and nationally-recognized performers doing stage shows. Several NMT energetic materials demo put on by Sawyer Gill of the Materials Engineering Department that reverberated off the skyscrapers on civic plaza.

Hilary Pineda of the Admission Office at Super STEM SaturdayOther hands-on exhibits and demos from universities including NMT, CNM, NMSU, and UNM, the Albuquerque Isotopes, local companies, APD, AFD, Army, Air Force, and other major firms. The event included visually appealing demonstrations in physics, chemistry, reactive materials, flight simulators, environment simulations, stage shows, additive manufacturing, rocketry and much more.

New Mexico Tech and EMRTC demos include rocketry, chemical engineering, high-speed imaging, civil structures, Doppler radar and more.

The New Mexico Tech Admission Office also attended, providing prospective students with information about applications, scholarships, and life as a Techie.
