
Matt Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies in the Department
of
Communication, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences. He studies the literatures and cultures
of modern Latin America. His research focuses on the dynamic relationship between
Latin American cultural production and the social, political, and technological conditions
of modern life. His publications study how artists, writers, and filmmakers engage
with processes of social transformation during a period stretching from the late nineteenth
century to the present. At New Mexico Tech, he teaches language classes and Hispanic
Studies courses on topics such as Latinx Literature and Culture and Latin American
Cultural History.
