Canastitas de Flores
Little Flower Baskets
by Betty Reynolds
Quilt is 38 x 38"
This quilt won 5th place in the Museum of the American Quilter's
Society's "Basket Quilt Contest" in March 2001.
It was auctioned, along with other donations to the contest,
to benefit the Museum in Paducah, Kentucky on April 28, 2001.
The quilt is made of 4" pieced blocks set on point. There are 61 blocks
in all, 13 different basket fabrics, and about 60 different floral
prints. The quilt is quilted by machine from the back outlining a
floral print in brown cotton thread with clear nylon in the bobbin
showing as an overall floral design on the front. The border,
which is a dark brown and green mottled print (not black as it
appears in this picture) is stipple quilted in brown.
The Quilt hanging at the show in Paducah with its green 5th place ribbon.
This picture was taken by Hayly Wiggins on May 24, 2001.
