'Serenity' + Bonus Short Film (Mon. 10 Mar, 2014 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Auxiliary Services is hosting a special showing of the 2005 cult movie, "Serenity," at 6 p.m. in the Fire & Ice Cafe in the Fidel Center. Free popcorn and soda. Before the movie, there will be a showing of "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog," featuring Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris and co-written by Joss Whedon.

Association for Computing Machinery meeting (Mon. 10 Mar, 2014 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Join the Tech student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery, the premier professional society for computer scientists. Weekly meetings are at 8 p.m. Mondays in Cramer 101. Meetings include technical lectures and planning for events including programming competitions, outreach activities, game jams, and other items.

Do-it-yourself Bike Repair (Wed. 12 Mar, 2014 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Bicycle Club hosts a bike repair afternoon every Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Macey Center loading dock.. The club has tools for you to do your own repairs. Club members are on hand to offer advice.

Philosophy of Math and Science Seminar (Wed. 12 Mar, 2014 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

A weekly seminar and discussion group surrounding the philosophy of science and mathematics. Everyone is welcome to join in the Math Conference Room in Weir Hall.

Board of Regents Meeting (Thu. 13 Mar, 2014 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Board of Regents will meet in regular session at 1:30 p.m. in Socorro at a location to be determined. An agenda will be available 10 days prior to the meeting via email at pio@nmt.edu.

Physics Seminar (Thu. 13 Mar, 2014 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Cathy Clewett, of  West Texas A&M University will present the Physics Department Seminar. Her talk is titled, "Applying Physics to Agriculture: Using NMR in the Fields." This talk will briefly describe the physics behind nuclear magnetic resonance and describe four projects where NMR has been used to obtain new information for agricultural purposes. 4 p.m. in Workman 101.

Automotive Racing Club Meeting (Thu. 13 Mar, 2014 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Automotive Racing Club is a highly energized group of students that share a common interest in cars. Our members enjoy both working on and racing their cars. Feel free to join us in Workman 101 at 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

Pet a Puppy Day! (Fri. 14 Mar, 2014 9:00 am - 4:00 pm)

Students are invited to pet a homeless puppy from the Socorro Animal Shelter from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Fidel. It will cost a can of Tuna, Vienna Sausage, or $2 to pet and play with an animal for a few minutes. All proceeds are going to fill backpacks for the homeless.

Student Health Insurance Forum (Fri. 14 Mar, 2014 10:00 am - 2:00 pm)

Families & Youth Inc. is hosting a forum for students about health insurance and Medicaid. Do you need health insurance? Do you qualify for no-cost or low-cost health insurance? Come find out. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Fidel Atrium.

Pi Eating Contest (Fri. 14 Mar, 2014 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm)

Join the Ladies of Alpha Sigma Kappa to celebrate Pi Day with a good ol' fashioned pie eating contest!  Registrations will begin Wednesday, March 12. Only $5 to enter!

Materials Engineering Seminar (Fri. 14 Mar, 2014 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Dr. Jamie M. Kropka of Sandia National Laboratories will present the Materials Engineering Department seminar. His talk is titled, "Closely Coupled Experimental and Modeling Efforts of Polymer Structural Responses." Noon in Cramer 124.

Materials Engineering Proposal Presentation (Fri. 14 Mar, 2014 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

Dick Charles Engbrecht will present his proposal for his doctorate in Materials Science. His talk is titled, "Morphological and Synergistic Effects of Additives and Naturally Occurring Impurities on Calcium Sulfate Castings." 2 p.m. March 14 in Cramer 123.
