Association for Computing Machinery meeting (Mon. 24 Feb, 2014 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Join the Tech student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery, the premier professional society for computer scientists. Weekly meetings are at 8 p.m. Mondays in Cramer 101. Meetings include technical lectures and planning for events including programming competitions, outreach activities, game jams, and other items.

Do-it-yourself Bike Repair (Wed. 26 Feb, 2014 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Bicycle Club hosts a bike repair afternoon every Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Macey Center loading dock.. The club has tools for you to do your own repairs. Club members are on hand to offer advice.

Materials Engineering Dissertation Defense (Thu. 27 Feb, 2014 9:00 am - 10:00 am)

Eric Scheid, doctoral candidate in the Materials Engineering Department, will present and defend his Ph.D. dissertation titled "Correlating Shape Charge Performance with Processing Conditions and MIcrostructure of an Aluminum Alloy 1100 Liner Enabled by a New Method to Arrest Nascent Jet Formation." 9 a.m. in Jones 106.

Physics Seminar (Thu. 27 Feb, 2014 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Dr. Jean Eilek, professor emerita at New Mexico Tech and research associate at the /NRAO, will present the weekly Physics Department seminar. She will present, "Magnetic Fields on Extragalactic Scales." 4 p.m. in Workman 101. This will be an "equation-free" talk.

Dr. Aaron Rowland, professor in the Department of Chemistry at New Mexico State University, will present "A Transcriptomic Approach to Identifying an Orphan's Home." Noon in Cramer 101. All are welcome.

Materials Engineering Dissertation Defense (Fri. 28 Feb, 2014 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Eric Scheid, a doctoral candidate in the Materials Engineering Department, will present the weekly seminar. His talk is titled, "Shaped Charge Liner Early Collapse Experiment Execution and Validation." Noon in Cramer 124.

Carlos Nuñez (Fri. 28 Feb, 2014 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Performing Arts Series presents Carlos Nuñez, renowned Celtic bagpiper, flutist, and honorary Cheiftain direct from Galicia, Spain. He has the quality of a classical music virtuoso and the charisma of a rock star, expanding borders from Celtic music to flamenco, fado, Cuban, Mexican, Brazilian and classical.
