Board of Licensure for P.E.s State Meeting (Fri. 25 Apr, 2014 9:00 am - 3:00 pm)

The New Mexico Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors will have its annual meeting on campus in Socorro on Thursday and Friday. All engineering students and faculty are welcome to attend. The meetings will be in the Tripp Room of the Skeen Library (room 212) at the following times:

Thursday, April 24, 2014
Professional Surveying Committee at 10 a.m.
Professional Engineering Committee at 1 p.m.

Friday, April 25, 2014
The Full Board of Engineers and Surveyors at 9 a.m.

Faculty Training - Canvas (Fri. 25 Apr, 2014 10:00 am - 12:00 pm)

Tech faculty members are invited to an instructor training session in the use of Canvas, the new learning management system that will be available campus-wide this fall. The session will be conducted by Instructure, the company behind Canvas, via webcast from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, April 25, in Cramer 124. Light refreshments will be available.

Session topics will include:

• Overview of Canvas Global Interface (Including Help Corner and Course Interface)
• Creating Course Content (Discussions, Calendar, Syllabus, Assignments)

Computer Science & Engineering Speaker Series (Fri. 25 Apr, 2014 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm)

Chris McConaha of Los Alamos National Laboratory is the guest speaker for the Computer Science and Engineering Department speaker series. He will give a lecture on the LANL Mobile Application Development Project. 1 p.m. in MSEC 105.

Technical Communication Theses Presentations (Fri. 25 Apr, 2014 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Three Technical Communication seniors will present their senior theses on Friday, April 25. Angelica Perry, Andy Keith, and Abi Smoake will be presenting on Communication in Engineering Education, End-User License Agreements (EULAs), and the usability of medical information pamphlets. All are welcome! 3 p.m. in Cramer 120.

ASCE Barbecue (Fri. 25 Apr, 2014 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm)

The American Society of Civil Engineers is having a year-end barbecue at 5 p.m. outside Macey Center. The barbecue is to celebrate the end of the semester and to celebrate the Steel Bridge Competition team making it to nationals.
