New Mexico Tech Biomaterials Workshop (Fri. 28 Mar, 2014 8:00 am - 4:00 pm)

The Graduate Student Association is hosting the first interdisciplinary workshop focused on biomaterials. The workshop will feature talks from scientists from universities and national laboratories. This is an excellent opportunity for interested students to learn from and converse with experts in the field of biomaterials. All students are welcome to attend. The event will be in the third-floor ballrooms of the Fidel Center.

8 a.m. -- Welcome and Overview, Dr. Van Romero, New Mexico Tech

8:15 a.m. Continuum Modeling of In Vitro Tissue Engineering, Andrew Krause, New Mexico Tech Graduate Student

9 a.m. -- Materials needs for Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology, Dr. Paul Calvert, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth

Owl Bar Run (Fri. 28 Mar, 2014 3:00 pm)

Enjoy the breath taking views and the beautiful spring weather along the Rio Grande as you walk, jog or run the 13-mile course from Tech gymnasium to the Owl Bar in San Antonio, N.M. This is a non-competitive event. Participation can be individual or as a group. Participants can leave anytime during the day. Water stations will be placed along the trail at the 4 mile marker, 6, 8, 10, and 12. Once you reach the Owl, the friendly folks inside will give one complimentary non-alcoholic drink of your choice. The Tech Track and Field Club will pay for green chile cheese burgers for 25 students who make the run and 10 for faculty/staff. Transportation back to Socorro is available at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The Physical Recreation Department will have Owl Bar Run T-shirts free for participants or $5 for non-participants. Maps can be picked up at the gym. 

Guy Forsyth Band (Fri. 28 Mar, 2014 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm)

New Mexico Tech Performing Arts Series presents Guy Forsyth Band, featuring Texas blues-rockin’ songwriter, master of electric and slide guitar, harmonica, ukulele, and singing saw, with powerful vocals and engaging live shows.
