Department of Energy Listening Session (Thu. 27 Mar, 2014 9:00 am - 2:30 pm)

The New Mexico State Department of Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources has set a listening session in Socorro to solicit technical and science-based input on concerns related to energy development. Discussion topics will include Water Use, Induced Seismicity Associated with Water Injection, Hydrology Considerations, Interwell Communication and the Possibility of Fresh Water Contamination due to Hydraulic Fracturing, Stray Gas Emissions, Carbon Production and Sequestration, Advanced Nuclear Technology and Development of Small Modular Reactors, Public Health and Public Safety Issues, and Providing Information to Counties in the State. Following presentations from Tech professors about the topics above, the audience will be invited to ask questions. 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Fidel Center. 

Physics Department Seminar (Thu. 27 Mar, 2014 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Chuanxi Liu will present the Physics Department seminar. The talk is titled, "Northern Hemisphere mid-winter vortex-displacement and vortex-split stratospheric sudden warmings: Influence of the Madden-Julian Oscillation and Quasi-Biennial Oscillation."  4 p.m. in Workman 101.

Etiquette Dinner (Thu. 27 Mar, 2014 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm)

Students are invited to the annual Etiquette Dinner and Fashion Show to learn how to navigate a four-course meal, what to wear what not to wear. Door prizes will be available, and dinner, but limited spaces available. Presentation by Marty Apodaca, Career Development facilitator at UNM. Registration required -- either in person at Fidel 262 or online at http://www.nmt.edu/career-services.

Open Mic (Thu. 27 Mar, 2014 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm)

Can you sing, can you play guitar, do you have some poems you want to share? This is the time to shine and show off your talent. The Student Activity Board is sponsoring an open mic event in the Fire and Ice Coffee Shop in the Fidel Center. Open to the Tech community. Coffee will be provided. 7 p.m.

Automotive Racing Club Meeting (Thu. 27 Mar, 2014 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Automotive Racing Club is a highly energized group of students that share a common interest in cars. Our members enjoy both working on and racing their cars. Feel free to join us in Workman 101 at 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
