Dr. Daniel H. López, president of New Mexico Tech, will be honored along with Congresswoman Heather Wilson, at the 2005 New Mexico Spirit of Achievement Award Dinner on May 2. The dinner benefits National Jewish Medical and Research Center, the nation’s number one respiratory hospital.
The dinner is held at the Sheraton Old Town in Albuquerque. The reception begins at 6 p.m., with dinner to follow at 7 p.m. Tickets for the fund-raising event are $300 per couple, or $500 for each Patron level guest. Tables are available from $1,500 to $10,000.

National Jewish is the only medical and research center in the United States devoted entirely to respiratory, allergic and immune system diseases, including asthma, tuberculosis, emphysema, severe allergies, AIDS, cancer, and autoimmune diseases such as lupus. During that time, National Jewish provided $174,471 in charity and heavily subsidized services to residents of New Mexico. Last year, 610 people from New Mexico called or e-mailed nurses at National Jewish’s toll-free LUNG LINE (1-800-222-LUNG) information service; 13, 650 since the service began in 1983.
The 2005 New Mexico Spirit of Achievement Award Dinner Chair is Robert Jung II, Wells Fargo Bank. Dinner Treasurer is Dr. Elizabeth Everitt, Albuquerque Public Schools. Sherman McCorkle, Technology Ventures Corporation, is National Trustee and Regional Chair of National Jewish Medical and Research Center; and Michael Stanford, First State Bank, is National Trustee.
