SOCORRO, N.M., Aug. 23, 2005 – New Mexico Tech has again been included among the 64 universities that make up the third tier grouping in the “Best National Universities” category in the latest annual rankings published by U.S.News & World Report.
New Mexico Tech, a state-supported research university, also received mention in last year’s survey among the third tier of schools, which includes colleges and universities ranked from about the 125th to 185th position, but listed in alphabetical order.
In addition, New Mexico Tech received special mention among national universities by being listed in the fifth-best position in a select group of 25 schools where students graduated in 2004 with the least average amount of debt.
U.S.News & World Report’s annual rankings of the nation’s top institutions of higher education are part of the magazine’s special issue of America’s Best Colleges 2006, which goes on sale Monday, August 22.
