SOCORRO, N.M., Nov. 15, 2005 – New Mexico Tech sophomore Alex T. Randolph died Monday evening, November 14, of injuries sustained when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a cow elk on State Highway 12, south of Datil, N.M. Randolph was a Datil resident.
New Mexico State Police report that they responded to the accident near mile marker 72 prior to 9:21 p.m., at which time it was determined that the 22-year-old victim was dead at the scene.
Randolph was a full-time student who was majoring in psychology at the state-supported research university in Socorro.
“New Mexico Tech is a relatively small university, and, as such, the entire campus community shares in the tragic loss of this promising young man,” said New Mexico Tech President Daniel H. López. “We extend our thoughts and prayers to his parents and the rest of his family during this deep personal tragedy.”
