SOCORRO, N.M., July 22, 2008 – Finishing work on the third floor of the Fidel Center Student Center at New Mexico Tech began in early July. The nearly $1 million project should be completed by late October, with the facility ready for public use in January, according to Alex Garcia-Likovic, facility planner.
EAS Construction is hanging ductwork, installing piping for the bathrooms and roughing out the walls.
“We’re still in the basic early stages of work,” Garcia-Likovic said. “We’re going to have some really nice ballrooms.”
The third floor of Fidel Center will have movable partitions that can create smaller meeting rooms or retracted to create one huge ballroom. The 5400 square-foot ballroom can be divided into three rooms. The third floor will have a movable stage and podiums.
