SOCORRO, N.M. September 18, 2012 – New Mexico Tech is now accepting applications for the position of Student Regent. Omar Soliman’s term ends at the end of the year. The next Student Regent will serve from Jan. 1, 2013, to Dec. 31, 2014.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 26. Applications are available at the Office of Student & University Relations, Brown Hall 216 or click here to print one from the website.
Students will be interviewed and selected by a committee appointed by university president Dr. Daniel H. López. The committee will submit a short list of names to Governor Susanna Martinez for her consideration.
The nominee will not officially assume the seat until the Governor’s selection is confirmed by the New Mexico State Legislature.
Interested students can pick up an application in Brown Hall 216, the office of the Vice President of Student and University Relations. Applicants must also submit a letter of interest, resumé and transcript. Click here for the official application.

- U.S. citizenship
- New Mexico residency
- Full-time undergraduate or graduate student
- Good academic standing
- Registered voter
