SOCORRO, N.M., Aug. 14, 2007 – When ranked by percentages, New Mexico Tech is the nation’s top recipient of research and development funding from industry, according to a recent report published by the State Science and Technology Institute (SSTI).
With statistics provided by the National Science Foundation’s Academic Research and Development Expenditures Report: Fiscal Year 2005, New Mexico Tech tops SSTI’s list of 100 national universities ranked according to their industrial research and development funding as a percentage of their total research and development expenditures. The state-supported research university in Socorro led all institutions with 27.9 percent of its R&D funded by industrial sources.
The statistics are available at the SSTI website.
Rounding out the top five in this particular measure — but ranked behind New Mexico Tech — were Duke University, New York Medical College, the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and the University of Central Florida.
