SRS/WC/OPC Workshops!

Student Research Symposium, Research Poster Workshop (February 29)
Attendees will receive tips and strategies for designing a research poster. Writing and Oral Presentation Center staff will assist participants
in developing a designfor their poster. Participants will leave the workshop having started on their poster.
● When. Wednesday, February 29, 6-8 PM ● Where. Technical Communication Lab, 002 Fitch Hall ● Who. Any student -- undergraduate or graduate -- presenting a poster at the SRS ● What to Bring. Any data that you’ve collected, any rough drafts of your poster or writing. (Drafts can be very, very rough!) ● RSVP to write@nmt.edu by February 27. There will be PIZZA!

Student Research Symposium, Research/Design Extended Abstract Workshop (March 21)
Attendees will receive strategies for writing and revising their research reports. Attendees will be divided into peer review groups, facilitated by
Writing Center staff and volunteers, and will receive feedback on drafts of
their reports. Also, students who attended the February 29 poster workshop can bring poster drafts for final review.
● When. Wednesday, March 21, 6-8 PM ● Where. Technical Communication Lab, 002 Fitch Hall ● Who. Any student -- undergraduate or graduate -- submitting a paper to the SRS ● What to Bring. Rough drafts of your report (they can be rough!), any data that you collected, notes, secondary sources, etc. ● RSVP to write@nmt.edu by March 19. There will be PIZZA!

Student Research Symposium, Oral Presentation Workshop (April 4)
This workshop will address strategies for effective technical presentations and PowerPoint slide design. Students will learn
how to cater content towards their audience and choose appropriate templates, colors, fonts, and visuals to deliver that content. Students are encouraged to bring presentation drafts to the workshop so that
they can obtain feedback and make modifications.
