How to Apply


UBMS is funded to help first-generation and low-income students succeed in high school and get into college. To be eligible for the program, students must:

  • EITHER meet US Department of Education’s Income Guidelines
  • OR qualify as first-generation college-bound (neither parent/guardian holds a bachelor’s degree)
  • Demonstrate an interest in attending college to pursue a degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Techniology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • Demonstrate an academic or social need for program services
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Attend one of the following high schools:
    • Highland High School
    • Manzano High School
    • West Mesa High School

If you qualify under the requirements listed above and are interested in getting involved, please download and complete an application (English , Español ).

Once you have completed the forms and compiled all of the necessary documents, return the package to the UBMS office at 2808 Central Ave. SE, Ste. 109 in Albuquerque, NM 87106. You may also call the UBMS Director or Coordinator [contact us] to have the application picked up from you directly. All completed applications will be reviewed and eligible applicants will be contacted within 30 days for a student / parent interview with program staff.
