New Mexico Tech professor Dr. John McCoy will present the Mechanical Engineering Seminar, titled "Polymeric Materials:The Utility of Nature's Designs." 2 p.m. in Cramer 124.

Do-it-yourself Bike Repair (Wed. 19 Feb, 2014 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Bicycle Club hosts a bike repair afternoon every Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Macey Center loading dock.. The club has tools for you to do your own repairs. Club members are on hand to offer advice.

Philosophy of Math and Science Seminar (Wed. 19 Feb, 2014 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

A weekly seminar and discussion group surrounding the philosophy of science and mathematics. Everyone is welcome to join in the Math Conference Room in Weir Hall.

Career Services and Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold will be hosting an activity-filled day for the students of New Mexico Tech.

Earth & Environmental Science Seminar (Thu. 20 Feb, 2014 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

The Earth and Environmental Science Department will host Dr. Giday WoldeGabriel of Los Alamos National Laboratory for the weekly seminar. WoldeGabriel will present, "Chaotic Geodynamic Processes and Hominid Records in the Afar Rift, Ethiopia." Sponsored by the Department of Earth and Environmental Science and N.M. Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. Hosted by Dr. Nelia Dunbar and Peter Revelle. 4 p.m. in MSEC 101.

Physics Seminar (Thu. 20 Feb, 2014 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Mike Herman, graduate student in physics at New Mexico Tech, will present the department seminar. His talk is titled, "The Spectral Weak Temperature Gradient Approximation."  4 p.m. in Workman 101.

Open Mic (Thu. 20 Feb, 2014 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm)

Can you sing, can you play guitar, do you have some poems you want to share? This is the time to shine and show off your talent. The Student Activity Board is sponsoring an open mic event in the Fire and Ice Coffee Shop in the Fidel Center open to the Tech community. Coffee will be provided. 7 p.m.

Blood Drive (Fri. 21 Feb, 2014 10:00 am - 4:00 pm)

Residential Life is sponsoring a blood drive Friday, February 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the third floor ballrooms of the Fidel Center. Students, employees and local residents are all welcome to participate. Call 835-5900 or go on the web at www.unitedbloodservices.org and enter the sponsor code NMT to reserve a time slot. Those who donate will be entered to win two tickets to the Mountain West Championship Men’s Basketball Quarter Finals. 

Chemistry Seminar Series (Fri. 21 Feb, 2014 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Dr. Frank Huang, professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at New Mexico Tech will present the Chemistry Department seminar. He will present "Selenium Removal From Oil Refinery Wastewater Effluent." All are invited. Noon in Cramer 101.

Materials Engineering Seminar (Fri. 21 Feb, 2014 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Dr. Frank B. van Swol, researcher at Sandia National Laboratories, will deliver the Materials Engineering Department seminar. He will present, “Diffusion and Reaction at Solid-Fluid Interfaces.” Noon in Cramer 124.

28th NM Science Olympiad (Sat. 22 Feb, 2014 8:00 am - 8:00 pm)

New Mexico Tech hosts the 28th annual New Mexico Science Olympiad competition. More than 300 "intelletes" from high schools and middle schools around the state will spend the day testing their knowledge of science, engineering, math and communications in 24 events at each level. the awards assembly will begin at 6 p.m. at Macey Center.
