The Fantasticks (Wed. 12 Feb, 2014 7:30 am - 8:30 am)

New Mexico Tech Performing Arts Series presents The Fantasticks, the longest running musical in history. This show is a romantic comedy about a boy, a girl, their meddling fathers and the wall that divides them. This all-new Steampunk adaption is crafted with charming simplicity, captivating music and whimsy. Do-it-yourself Bike Repair (Wed. 12 Feb, 2014 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Bicycle Club hosts a bike repair afternoon every Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Macey Center loading dock.. The club has tools for you to do your own repairs. Club members are on hand to offer advice.

SWE Meeting (Wed. 12 Feb, 2014 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm)

The Society of Women Engineers will have a general meeting to discuss a fundraiser event and  other volunteering opportunities. 5:30 p.m. in Weir 102.

Philosophy of Math and Science Seminar (Wed. 12 Feb, 2014 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

Earth Science Seminar (Thu. 13 Feb, 2014 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

The Earth and Environmental Science Department will host Dr. Paul Winberry of Central Washington University for the weekly seminar. Winberry will present, "Polar Seismology: Buried Continents and Dynamic Ice Sheets." Sponsored by the Department of Earth & Environmental Science and N.M. Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. Hosted by Dr. Glenn Spinelli and Steve Bernsen. 4 p.m. in MSEC 101.

Physics Seminar (Thu. 13 Feb, 2014 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Robert Hayward, who is retired from the NRAO, will give a special Physics Department Seminar titled, "The Colgate Paramp: The Story of Stirling Colgate and the Multifunction Array Radar and their Impact on Radio Astronomy." This talk is a historical account of the low-noise parametric amplifiers (or paramps) that were salvaged from an early Anti-Ballistic Missile radar built and tested at the White Sands Missile Range during the mid 1960's. The facility was known as the "Multifunction Array Radar" (MAR-I) and it was the first prototype of a phased-array radar developed for the Nike-X missile defense program. The MAR-I was salvaged during the fall of 1970 by New Mexico Tech. The salvaged MAR-I amplifiers came to be known as "Colgate Paramps", named after Stirling Colgate who was then president of Tech (1965-1975). . 4 p.m. in Workman 101

Materials Engineering Seminar (Fri. 14 Feb, 2014 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Dr. Chelsey Z. Hargather, adjunct professor in the Materials and Metallurgical Engineering Department, will present the department seminar. She will talk about "A Computational Investigation of the Effect of Alloying Elements on the Thermodynamic and Diffusion Properties of fcc Ni and its Alloys." Noon in Cramer 124.

Regents Meeting (Fri. 14 Feb, 2014 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Board of Regents will meet in regular session at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, in the Tesuque Room at the Inn at Loretto, 211 Old Santa Fe Trail, Santa Fe, N.M. A complete agenda will be available at the Office of the President, Brown Hall 217, or by email at pio@nmt.edu. An executive session is scheduled to discuss personnel and legal matters. 

SWEet Valentine Raffle (Fri. 14 Feb, 2014 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

The Society of Women Engineers will draw the winner of its SWEet Valentine raffle. The winner of a dinner for two at Socorro Springs will be chosen! 2 p.m. in the Fidel Center atrium.

Rube Goldberg Competition (Sat. 15 Feb, 2014 9:00 am - 2:00 pm)

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is hosting the annual Rube Goldberg Competition from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Student Activity Center. Come with your SGA Club, or create your own team to fabricate the most creative, complex, and captivating machine to accomplish our mystery task. We'll give you $50 for supplies, and pizza for fuel. We can't wait to see what you'll make!
