Air Rifle (Mon. 14 Oct, 2013 5:00 pm - 6:45 pm)

The Tech Shooting Club hosts an air rifle practice in the basement of the gym for all who are interested in learning or improving shooting skills. 5 to 6:45 p.m.

Street Hockey (Mon. 14 Oct, 2013 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

The Street Hockey club invites anyone interested to join us for some friendly, no contact, street hockey fun! Even if you have never rollerbladed or played hockey before, come see what it is all about! Equipment is provided (limited stock) so you don't have to worry about buying your own. Student Forum - Tech's Strategic Plan (Tue. 15 Oct, 2013 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

New Mexico Tech is gearing up to launch the 2015-2018 Strategic Plan. All students are invited to participate and provide input and to learn about the strategic planning process.

What is Strategic Planning?

As applied to New Mexico Tech, ‘Strategic Planning’ is a process by which the senior administration of the university, in consultation with faculty, administrators, managers, employees, students, alumni, and other interested parties collaborate to plan for the future direction of the institution, and develop strategies to achieve that future. The strategic planning process drives us to answer three basic questions:

1. Where are we now as a university?

Objective: Assess the present situation at the university

2. Where do we want to be in the future?

Objective: Determine the desired direction for the future of the university

3. How do we get there from where we are now?

Objective: Define the strategies to achieve the future direction of the university 

Mechanical Engineering Seminar (Tue. 15 Oct, 2013 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

Dr. Heather E. Canavan, associate professor at the University of New Mexico, will present the Mechanical Engineering Department seminar. She will discuss "Applications and Uses of  Biological Cell Detachment from Thermoresponsive Poly(NIPAM) Substrates." 2 p.m. In Cramer 124.

Pat Miller Student Investment Club (Tue. 15 Oct, 2013 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

The Pat Miller Student Investment Club meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Speare 116. the club manages a live fund and offers a great way to learn about long-term investment strategies. All are welcome.

49ers Celebration (Wed. 16 Oct, 2013 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Student events kick off for the annual 49ers Celebration and Homecoming with the "Engineers Barbecue" at 5 p.m. on the athletic field. Movie night starts at 7 p.m., also on the Athletic Field, with $250 of casino dollars for all who attend the movie (for Casino Night on Saturady).

St. Patrick's Newman Center (Wed. 16 Oct, 2013 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

The Newman Center at New Mexico Tech is a Catholic organization that serves students seeking to grow in their faith. Meetings include fellowship, discussions, and dinner. 4-7 p.m. Art Reception. New Mexico Tech's 125th/San Miguel Church's 400th Anniversary Art Show Reception at Macey Center.

6-8 p.m. Opening Reception. Alumni and faculty reception at the home of Dr. Daniel Lopez. Meet and mingle with current faculty members as well as your friends.

6-9 p.m. Old Town Bistro. NMTAA's tribute to the Golden Reunion Class of '63. "The Times They Are A Changin'," featuring Studio 2656, Los Unusual Suspects, Roon, Steve Cather, Audio Frenzy and other guests performing songs by Bob Dylan. This event has been cancelled.  Dr. Glenn Spinelli, associate professor at New Mexico Tech, will present the weekly Earth Science Seminar. He will present, "Effects of Fluid Circulation in Oceanic Crust on Subduction Zone Temperatures" Hosted by Dr. Dan Cadol and Stas Edel. Sponsored by the Earth and Environmental Science Department. 4 p.m. in MSEC 101.

Paint the "M" (Fri. 18 Oct, 2013 8:00 am - 9:00 am)

Join the annual trek up 'M' Mountain to help give the 'M' a facelift!  Students are encouraged to carry 50-pound bags of lime. Sign in at 8 a.m. Launch at 9 a.m. Registration required by Thursday, 10/17 via email (paintm@nmt.edu). Lunch provided at the top of the mountain.  Meet at the field on Buck Wolfe Drive to catch the shuttle. Take Canyon Road past the golf course and turn right at the stop sign (Buck Wolfe Drive).

Drunk Driving Simulator, presented by Alcohol Safety Awareness Program (ASAP). Friday afternoon in the Macey Center parking lot.

3:30 p.m. Tailgate party at the Athletic Field prior to the rugby game. 

4:30 p.m. Traditional Black and Blue Rugby Match. The Pygmies vs. Alumni Ancestors. Food, merchandise, and play by play commentary for the rugby neophyte.

6 p.m. Undie run/green mile. Donate clothes to the local homeless shelter and run a mile in your underwear. Meet at the Athletic Field.

6 -8 p.m. Decades Alumni Reunion. The reception will be on the third floor of Fidel. We have an area reserved for each decade of graduates. Appetizers will be served and a cash bar made available.

8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Waffle Rave in the SAC

The Pygmies rugby team will take on an alumni team in the annual Black vs. Blue match at 4:30 p.m. on the Athletic Field. Come support the Tech ruggers – new and not-so-new and celebrate 49’ers!

Performance Art & Star Party (Fri. 18 Oct, 2013 6:00 pm - Sat. 19 Oct, 2013 12:00 am)

The Magdalena Ridge Observatory is hosting a special event with artist Chris Kallmyer at the observatory. A sound performer and artist, Kallmyer brings his installation piece "The Distance Makes Us Feel Closer." Enjoy art, sit and watch the sunset, and star gaze with our knowledgeable starguides. 'Distance Makes Us Feel Closer" is an immersive, mountaintop sound work. Beginning at dusk, listeners can sip hot tea, and experience spacious and faraway tones resounding across the landscape; Morse Code derived from local oral histories and astronomical data gathered by the observatory. This special performance is naturally inclusive, inviting listeners to hang out and notice sounds, sights, smells, greater landscape that stretches out from our perch in the high-desert. 6 p.m. to midnight.

Paintball Tournament (Sat. 19 Oct, 2013 10:00 am - 1:00 pm)

The campus Paintball Club is hosting a tournament fundraiser. Players are invited to enter this 2-on-3 tournament with four-person rosters. The entry fee si $20 per team and each team will get a bag of paint (500 rounds) and rental equipment.
