INBRE/Biology Seminar (Mon. 16 Sep, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Michael Gonzalez, co-ordinator for the SoyMap II Summer Research Program ( will explain the program in his talk "Using Biology, Math and Computers to Make New Discoveries: Summer Research Opportunities in Bioinformatics, Genomics and Molecular Biology." Two participating Tech students from Summer 2013 will also present on their projects. Kayla Engstrom will discuss "GC3 Content Zea Mays: Exploring GC3 Content in Maize and its Relationship to Other Genomic Parameters." Jonathan Tsosie will present "Influence of Transposable Elements on the Structure and Function of the Glycine Max Genome." 4 p.m. in MSEC 105

Preparing for the Career Fair Workshop (Mon. 16 Sep, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

The Career Services Office is hosting a workshop focused on preparing for the Career Fair. All students are encouraged to attend 4 to 5 p.m. in Fidel Center, Room 262. 

Air Rifle (Mon. 16 Sep, 2013 5:00 pm - 6:45 pm)

The Tech Shooting Club hosts an air rifle practice in the basement of the gym for all who are interested in learning or improving shooting skills. 5 to 6:45 p.m.

Pat Miller Student Investment Club (Tue. 17 Sep, 2013 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

The Pat Miller Student Investment Club meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Speare 116. the club manages a live fund and offers a great way to learn about long-term investment strategies. All are welcome.

Fall Career and Graduate School Fair (Thu. 19 Sep, 2013 9:00 am - 2:30 pm)

President's Golf Tournament (Thu. 19 Sep, 2013 9:00 am - 3:00 pm)

The annual fund-raising golf tournament tees of with a VIP round on Thursday.  Over the past 19 years, the tournament has raised enough scholarship money to help more than 220 students complete their degrees!

President's Golf Tournament (Fri. 20 Sep, 2013 7:00 am - 6:00 pm)

The annual fund-raising golf tournament continues with two rounds of golf.  Over the past 19 years, the tournament has raised enough scholarship money to help more than 220 students complete their degrees!

NMT Blood Drive (Fri. 20 Sep, 2013 10:30 am - 4:00 pm)

The Residential Life Office is hosting the fall blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the third-floor ballrooms of the Fidel Center. Sign up at and enter the sponsor code: NMT. Walk ins are always welcome. Donors can register to win a Football Frenzy Package, which includes two tickets to see the Dallas Cowboys take on the Denver Broncos at Cowboys Stadium on October 6. Two nights' lodging would be included. 

NRAO Colloquium (Fri. 20 Sep, 2013 11:00 am - 12:00 pm)

Dr. Laurent Loinard of UNAM will present the NRAO Colloquium. His talk is titled "The Gould's Belt Distances Survey: Mapping the Distribution of Star-Forming Regions in the Milky Way." In the last decade, it has become possible to measure the distance and the velocity vector of young stars located within 500 pc of the Sun using Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) techniques. This opens the door to some extremely high-accuracy astrophysics. Loinard will focus on a legacy VLA/VLBA project that aims at mapping in three dimensions all the nearby regions of star-formation. All NRAO employees are invited to attend via video. 11 a.m. Friday in the DomeniciScienceOperationsCenter auditorium.

Street Hockey (Fri. 20 Sep, 2013 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

The Street Hockey club invites anyone interested to join us for some friendly, no contact, street hockey fun! Even if you have never rollerbladed or played hockey before, come see what it is all about! Equipment is provided (limited stock) so you don't have to worry about buying your own. Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra (Fri. 20 Sep, 2013 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm)

The Performing Arts Series presents Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra as the season-opening show. Liebert is an internationally acclaimed 'nouveau flamenco' guitarist who has recorded more than a dozen albums. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $10 for children and free to Tech students.  7:30 p.m. at Macey Center

The Pygmies rugby team will host the New Mexico State University Chiles at 1 p.m. on the Athletic Field. Come support the Tech ruggers!

Queens Rugby (Sat. 21 Sep, 2013 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

The Queens rugby team will travel to Albuquerque to take on the Atomic Sisters at a time to be announced. Come support the Tech women ruggers!
