INBRE/Biology Seminar (Mon. 9 Sep, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Linda Daily of Marine Reef International will be introducing and explaining the features of the Hitachi TM3030 Tabletop Scanning Electron Microscope. The SEM will be on loan to the Biology Department for the entire week for any Tech faculty/researcher to evaluate. Contact Dr. Rebecca Reiss at extension 5347 for more information. 4 p.m. in MSEC 105.

Air Rifle (Mon. 9 Sep, 2013 5:00 pm - 6:45 pm)

The Tech Shooting Club hosts an air rifle practice in the basement of the gym for all who are interested in learning or improving shooting skills. 5 to 6:45 p.m.

Mechanical Engineering Seminar (Tue. 10 Sep, 2013 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

The Mechanical Engineering graduate student/faculty seminar will be presented by Jay D. Carroll of Sandia National Laboratory . Carroll will present "Material Deformation at the Microstructural Scale in BCC Tantalum." 2 p.m. in Cramer 124

Resume Writing Workshop (Tue. 10 Sep, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

The Career Services Office is hosting a resume writing workship from 4 to 5 p.m. in Career Services, Fidel Center, Room 262. Students are encourage to attend and get prepared for the career Fair on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Longboarding Club (Tue. 10 Sep, 2013 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

The Longboarding Club will kick off the semester's activities at 6 p.m. at La Raj (the patio by the gym). The club will discuss upcoming events, including the fall's first clinic/race later in September.  Pizza will be served, so come hang out, eat pizza and then skate.

Pat Miller Student Investment Club (Tue. 10 Sep, 2013 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

The Pat Miller Student Investment Club meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Speare 116. the club manages a live fund and offers a great way to learn about long-term investment strategies. All are welcome.

P.A.S. Volunteer Orientation (Wed. 11 Sep, 2013 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm)

The first Performing Arts Series show is around the corner (September 20) and everyone is welcome to join the ranks of PAS volunteers! Anyone interested should attend the orientation meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Macey Center up-stairs lobby. We want all our volunteers, if possible, to attend this orientation--whether you are a long-time or first-time volunteer, so we can all start the year on the same page. You will get to sign up for the shows you want to work. Volunteers do not need to buy a ticket and will typically get to see most of the show, depending on volunteer assignments. Please RSVP to dchavez@admin.nmt.edu. If you can't make it but you do want to volunteer, please let us know.

Dr. Ruth Chabay, professor emerita at North Carolina State University, will present "Computational Modeling in Introductory Physics" as the Physics Department Seminar. Dr. Chabay is the author of "Matter & Interactions," a modern calculus-based introductory physics textbook now in its third edition. 4 p.m. in Workman 101.

SWE Meeting (Thu. 12 Sep, 2013 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

Join the regular meeting of the Society of Women Engineers to discuss general club affairs as well as volunteering opportunities. 6 p.m. in Weir 102.

Fused Glass Workshop (Sat. 14 Sep, 2013 8:30 am - 12:30 pm)

"Autumn Leaves" is the theme of the September workshop at the Fine Arts Center. Learn to create and take home beautiful glass artwork, even if you have never worked with glass before. Cost is $25 at the door, which includes all materials. 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fine Arts West, across from the golf course on Canyon Drive at New Mexico Tech.

Pygmy Rugby (Sat. 14 Sep, 2013 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

The Pygmies rugby team will host the University of Texas-El Paso at 1 p.m. on the Athletic Field. Come support the Tech ruggers!
