The Vagina Monologues (Sun. 7 Apr, 2013 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

NMT and ASK present The Vagina Monologues, by Eve Ensler. Based off of hundreds of interviews with different women, this play is funny, clever, shocking, uncomfortable, and uplifting all at once. Tickets are $8 for students, $12 for adults. All proceeds and donations will be going to El Puente del Socorro for domestic violence victims. 

The play will be performed in the Seery Gym at Socorro High School.

GSA Meeting (Tue. 9 Apr, 2013 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm)

All graduate students are encouraged to attend GSA Meetings to discuss concerns.  Free food and drinks will be provided.  The meeting is at 12:30 p.m. in Library 212.

Juniors can pre-register for summer classes beginning today -- either online or in person at the Registrar's Office in the Fidel Center.

Bike Club Wrench-A-Thon (Wed. 10 Apr, 2013 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

Students, staff, and community are welcome to bring their bikes for minor repairs. You do the work, but the NMT Bike Club will provide tools, instructions, and minor parts. No charge, but donations are appreciated. 4 to 6 p.m. at the Macey Center loading dock.

St. Patrick's Catholic Newman Center (Wed. 10 Apr, 2013 7:00 pm)

The Newman Center at New Mexico Tech is a Catholic organization which serves students seeking to grow in their faith. Meetings include fellowship, discussions, and dinner. All are welcome! 7 p.m. at the Newman Center on School of Mines Road.

InterVarsity Large Group (Wed. 10 Apr, 2013 8:30 pm)

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's large group meeting is a time for communal growth and personal transformation. It can involve anything from thought-provoking messages to worship nights, from quiet evenings of prayer to loud games.  Everyone is welcome! 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the SAC.

Python 02 classes will be held every Thursday from 4 to 4:50 p.m. in Speare 116. 

Film Screening: "Switch" (Thu. 11 Apr, 2013 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

New Mexico Tech and the Bureau of Geology are hosting a screening of the film "Switch: Discover the Future of Energy." Get the straight answers to today's most important energy questions in Switch, the acclaimed new documentary and web video series. Is fracking polluting our water? How dangerous is nuclear? Will we run out of oil? Can we clean up coal? Will renewables power our future? In "Switch," energy scientist Dr. Scott Tinker travels the world, exploring leading energy sites from coal to solar, oil to biofuels, most of them highly restricted and never before seen on film. He seeks the truth from the international leaders of government, industry and academia. In the end, he cuts through the confusion to discover a path to our energy future as surprising as it is practical. "Switch" will screen at 250 universities across the country. 4 p.m. in Workman 101.

Swing Dance (Thu. 11 Apr, 2013 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm)

Weekly Swing Dance held in the SAC hosted by the New Mexico Tech Ballroom Dance Club. Everyone is welcome. Lessons are held before the dance most nights. 8 to 10:30 p.m.

NMT Auto Racing Club Meeting (Thu. 11 Apr, 2013 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

The NMT Automotive Racing Club (NMTARC) meets weekly at 8 p.m. Thursdays in Workman 101. Come and help plan for upcoming autocrosses, rallycrosses, cruises, and shop nights. Everyone is welcome to join! Contact us at nmtarc@nmt.edu.

Computer Science & Engineering Seminar (Fri. 12 Apr, 2013 11:00 am - 12:00 pm)

Representatives of Ultramain Systems will give a presentation as part of the Computer Science and Engineering Department Speaker Series. They will provide an overview of the company, and a demo of new software. 11 a.m. in Cramer 221. 

Materials Engineering Seminar (Fri. 12 Apr, 2013 11:45 am - 12:45 pm)

Deidre A. Hirschfeld, Ronald Geoke and David Adams of the Coatings and Surface Engineering Department at Sandia National Labs will present " Thin Film Deposition and Characterization of MoS2-Au Nano-Composites and Exothermic Foils." 11:45 a.m. in Cramer 124.

Chemistry Department Seminar (Fri. 12 Apr, 2013 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Munawar Khalil, Tech graduate student, will present the Chemistry Department seminar. His talk is titled, "Hematite Nanoparticles Based Catalyst for Catalytic Upgrading of Heavy Oil in Aquathermolysis." Noon in Cramer 101.

Spring Fling (Fri. 12 Apr, 2013 2:00 pm - 11:00 pm)

Spring Fling officially kicks off with a barbecue at the Pavilion (north of the gym) at 2 p.m. Free for students.

A "butt sketch artist" will be on hand from 2 to 6 p.m.

The drag show will begin at 3 p.m.

"Second City: Laughing Matters" comedy show will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Macey Center.

A Waffle Rave will be from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the SAC. The Chem Club will be making ice cream with liquid nitrogen.

Fundamentals of Engineering Exams (Sat. 13 Apr, 2013 9:00 am - 10:00 am)

Many engineering majors are required to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exams to graduate. This is the only opportunity to take the exam in Socorro during this semester.

Spring Fling (Sat. 13 Apr, 2013 9:00 am - 9:00 pm)

Spring Fling continues with Student Activity Board festivities:

The Alpha Sigma Kappa golf scramble begins at 9 a.m. See tinyurl.com/askscramble for details. ($35 for students/$50 for others).

The annual mud bog begins at 10 a.m. Admission is free with a Tech ID, $5 for others.

A free barbecue and movie will be on the Athletic Field. The barbecue begins at 5:30 p.m. and the movie, "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" will begin at dark, courtesy of Residential Life. Barbecue will be served until the end of the movie.

A bonfire will be at 9:30 p.m. in the parking lot by the SAC.   S'MORES!!!
