Couch to 5K running program (Mon. 18 Mar, 2013 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm)

Have you wanted to start running but weren't sure how to begin? The Couch-to-5K program can get you started running. The program moves you from walking briskly to walking and jogging in intervals until you are running continuously. Each session last about 30 minutes. You will also need to do a third session on your own or with a buddy on the weekends. That's it - just 30 minutes three times a week for eight weeks. INBRE/Biology Seminar (Mon. 18 Mar, 2013 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm)

Connor Cameron is a researcher at the National Center for Genome Resources in Santa Fe and Tech biology graduate. He will be the featured speaker for the Biology Department/INBRE seminar. His talk is titled "Applications and Assembly Techniques Utilizing Multiple Generations of Sequencing Data." 4 p.m. in MSEC 195.  This talk has been postponsed until Monday, March 25.

GSA Meeting (Tue. 19 Mar, 2013 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm)

All graduate students are encouraged to attend GSA Meetings to discuss concerns. Free food and drinks will be provided. The meeting is at 12:30 p.m. in Library 212.

Mechanical Engineering Seminar (Tue. 19 Mar, 2013 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

Dr. Li Hui is a scientist at Los Alamos National Lab and will present the graduate/faculty seminar for the Mechanical Engineering Department. The talk is titled  " Exoplanets and Their Nascent Disks, A Presentation on the Detection of Exoplanets." 2 p.m. in Cramer 124.

March Madness (Tue. 19 Mar, 2013 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Auxiliary Services is hosting March Madness parties on selected evenings throughout the tournament. Tech will have free popcorn and prizes for the most accurate brackets. Join us in the Fidel Center from 5 to 8 p.m. on weekdays to watch hoops and root for your favorite team.

Python 01 (Tue. 19 Mar, 2013 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm)

Python Section 1 classes are free every Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. in Speare 116

SGA Meeting (Tue. 19 Mar, 2013 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm)

Students are encouraged to come and express any concerns. 8 p.m. in the third floor Fidel ballrooms. A pizza and soda social in the SGA offices will begin at 7:15 before the Senate meeting.

Bike Club Wrench-A-Thon (Wed. 20 Mar, 2013 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

Students, staff, and community are welcome to bring their bikes for minor repairs. You do the work, but the NMT Bike Club will provide tools, instructions, and minor parts. No charge, but donations are appreciated. 4 to 6 p.m. at the Macey Center loading dock.

THEA 389 Readers' Theatre (Wed. 20 Mar, 2013 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

The Theater 389 class will read various snippets of plays, including is a healthy dose of Monty Python. 6:30 p.m. Macey Recital Hall. open to the public.

St. Patrick's Catholic Newman Center (Wed. 20 Mar, 2013 7:00 pm)

The Newman Center at New Mexico Tech is a Catholic organization which serves students seeking to grow in their faith. Meetings include fellowship, discussions, and dinner. All are welcome! 7 p.m. at the Newman Center on School of Mines Road.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers Meeting (Wed. 20 Mar, 2013 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

The New Mexico Tech student chapter of the ASME meets at 7 p.m. in Weir 102.  All are welcome to join in the food and fun.

InterVarsity Large Group (Wed. 20 Mar, 2013 8:30 pm)

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's large group meeting is a time for communal growth and personal transformation. It can involve anything from thought-provoking messages to worship nights, from quiet evenings of prayer to loud games.  Everyone is welcome! 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the SAC.

Python 02 classes will be held every Thursday from 4 to 4:50 p.m. in Speare 116. 

Earth Science Seminar (Thu. 21 Mar, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Dr. Rusty Reise is a geoscientist based in Houston and a distinguished lecturer of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He will present the Earth and Environemtal Science Department seminar. His talk is titled Oil Spills, Ethics, and Society: How They Intersect and Where the Responsibilities Reside." 4 p.m. in MSEC 101.

Weekly Swing Dance held in the SAC hosted by the New Mexico Tech Ballroom Dance Club. Everyone is welcome. Lessons are held before the dance most nights. 8 to 10:30 p.m.

NMT Auto Racing Club Meeting (Thu. 21 Mar, 2013 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Dr. Ashley Zauderer, a post-doc at Harvard University, will present the NRAO Colloquium Announcement. Her talk is titled “Radio Observations of the Tidal Disruption Event Swift J164449.3+573451: Two Years in Review.” 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, in the Socorro DSOC Auditorium.

Chemistry Seminar (Fri. 22 Mar, 2013 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Dr. Ramesh Chinnasamy, professor at New Mexico State University will present the Chemistry Department seminar. His talk is titled "Targeted Triazaborolopyridinium Probes For Living Cell Imaging." Noon at Cramer Hall 101.
