EES Special Seminar (Wed. 27 Feb, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Dr. Fan-Chi Lin, a post-doctoral researcher at Cal Tech, presents a special seminar in the Earth and Environmental Science Department. He will talk on "Seismic Tomography and Interferometry: From Shallow to Deep." 4 p.m. in MSEC 101.

St. Patrick's Catholic Newman Center (Wed. 27 Feb, 2013 7:00 pm)

The Newman Center at New Mexico Tech is a Catholic organization which serves students seeking to grow in their faith. Meetings include fellowship, discussions, and dinner. All are welcome! 7 p.m. at the Newman Center on School of Mines Road.

InterVarsity Large Group (Wed. 27 Feb, 2013 8:30 pm)

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's large group meeting is a time for communal growth and personal transformation. It can involve anything from thought-provoking messages to worship nights, from quiet evenings of prayer to loud games.  Everyone is welcome! 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the SAC.

Earth Science Seminar (Thu. 28 Feb, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

R. Bruce Frederick, staff attorney with the New Mexico Environmental Law Center, will discuss water law at the Earth and Environmental Science Department seminar. 4 p.m. in MSEC 101.

Physics Department Seminar (Thu. 28 Feb, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Dr. Bryan Butler, staff scientists at the NRAO in Socorro, will present the Physics Department seminar. The title of his talk is “Solar System Studies with ALMA and the VLA.” He will describe results obtained with the VLA from observations of Uranus, Neptune, and the larger Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs), and planned and possible observations of TNOs, Pluto and Charon, Venus, and other bodies with both telescopes. 4 p.m. in Workman 101.

Swing Dance (Thu. 28 Feb, 2013 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm)

Weekly Swing Dance held in the SAC hosted by the New Mexico Tech Ballroom Dance Club. Everyone is welcome. Lessons are held before the dance most nights. 8 to 10:30 p.m.

NMT Auto Racing Club Meeting (Thu. 28 Feb, 2013 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Materials Engineering Seminar (Fri. 1 Mar, 2013 11:45 am - 12:45 pm)

Dr. Arup Maji, professor of civil engineering and research scientist at the University of New Mexico will present the Materials Engineering Departent seminar. He will discuss "Crystal Formation in ABLAN Glass and Micro-Gravity Processing." 11:45 a.m. Cramer 124.

Chemistry Department Seminar (Fri. 1 Mar, 2013 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Dr. Larry Werbelow of the Office of Interdisciplinary Science at New Mexico Tech will present the Chemistry Department seminar. His talk is "Chemistry's Defining Element." Noon in Cramer 101.

Stained Glass Workshop - Glass Beads (Sat. 2 Mar, 2013 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

The Community Education program presents a workshop on glass beads. Class is 4 hours -- 8 a.m. to noon -- at the Fine Arts Center. Cost is $25 ($20 tuition and $5 materials fee) and is open to the public. Sign up on Banweb or at the Registrar.

First Saturday Star Party (Sat. 2 Mar, 2013 6:00 pm)

The Astronomy Club will have a star party after the VLA tours. The event is free and open to the public, so come out and join us at the Etscorn Observatory. The club hosts star parties on the first Saturday of each month starting at dusk.
