Please bring ideas for what you want us to do this semester. We will also figure out a schedule for Club Fair on Friday.

Guest Speaker (Mon. 11 Feb, 2013 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm)

Authors Rick Bass and Dennis Sizemore will present a special talk hosted by the Humanities and Social Sciences programs. They co-wrote The Black Rhinos of Namibia and will talk about Round River Conservation Studies, a science-oriented nonprofit that offers several semester and summer student study abroad programs. This is open to the public. 3:30 p.m. in Weir 102. Monday, 11. February

Student Research Symposium Deadline (Mon. 11 Feb, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Today is the deadline for students to register to present at the Student Research Symposium. Students interested in presenting must submit their extended abstract by this date to give either an oral presentation or a poster presentation. Registration forms are online. Guidelines and criteria for extended abstracts, oral presentations and posters are available at the Student Research Symposium’s website. The registration deadline is noon February 11, 2013, but those interested are encouraged to register early.

INBRE/Biology Seminar (Mon. 11 Feb, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Dr. Elizabeth Walsh, of the University of Texas-El Paso, is the guest speaker for a seminar hosted by the Biology Department and INBRE. She will talk about on her research, "Chihuahuan Desert Waters: Habitats Favoring Cryptic Speciation in Zooplankton." 4 p.m. in MSEC 195.

Free Workshops in Guitar, Ukulele & Hula Dancing (Wed. 13 Feb, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Learn about Hawaiian-style slack-key guitar and ukulele from Grammy-winning guitarist and performer George Kahumoku and hula dancing from an expert Hawaiian hula dancer. No worries, hula dancers and guitarists will go to separate spaces. 4 p.m. in Macey Center.

EES Special Seminar (Wed. 13 Feb, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Nathan Miller, of M.I.T. and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution presents a special seminar in the Earth and Environmental Science Department. He will talk on ""The Evolution of Oceanic Margins." 4 p.m. in MSEC 101.
 

St. Patrick's Catholic Newman Center (Wed. 13 Feb, 2013 7:00 pm)

The Newman Center at New Mexico Tech is a Catholic organization which serves students seeking to grow in their faith. Meetings include fellowship, discussions, and dinner. All are welcome! 7 p.m. at the Newman Center on School of Mines Road.

George Kahumoku Jr. and Hawaiian Masters (Wed. 13 Feb, 2013 7:30 pm)

The Performing Arts Series presents George Kahumoku Jr. and Hawaiian Masters, Hawaii's Grammy-winning slack key guitarist, storyteller, Renaissance man, with his son and uncle. Free for Tech students. General Admission: $16/Adult; $14/Senior; $8/Youth. 7:30 p.m. at Macey Center.

One Billion Rising (Thu. 14 Feb, 2013 12:20 pm - 1:20 pm)

Swing Dance (Thu. 14 Feb, 2013 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm)

Weekly Swing Dance held in the SAC hosted by the New Mexico Tech Ballroom Dance Club. Everyone is welcome. Lessons are held before the dance most nights. 8 to 10:30 p.m.

NMT Auto Racing Club Meeting (Thu. 14 Feb, 2013 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)
