Dr. Drew L'Esperance, senior scientist at MetroLaser will present the Mechanical Engineering seminar titled "Focusing Schlieren Systems for High Speed, Large Field of View Applications." Dr. Hargather's lab will host a demonstration after the seminar. 2 p.m. in Cramer 124

Alumnus Guest Speaker Peter Valdez (Tue. 16 Oct, 2012 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

New Mexico Tech graduate Peter Valdez will discuss the choice he made to pursue graduate school at the University of Michigan as opposed to finding an industry position. A former Macey Scholar, Peter earned his bachelor's in Chemical Engineering at New Mexico Tech. Open to all students. Food will be provided. 6 p.m. in MSEC 103.

The Society of Women Engineers will meet at 7 p.m. in Weir 102. All students are welcome.

St. Patrick's Catholic Newman Center (Wed. 17 Oct, 2012 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

The Newman Center at New Mexico Tech is a Catholic organization which serves students seeking to grow in their faith. Meetings include fellowship, discussions, and dinner. All are welcome. 7 p.m. at the Newman Center on School of Mines Road. 

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (Wed. 17 Oct, 2012 8:45 pm - 10:15 pm)

InterVarsity, or IV, is an interdenominational Christian ministry and fellowship led by students and geared toward evangelism in a campus environment. Bureau of Geology Open House (Thu. 18 Oct, 2012 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

The New Mexico Bureau of Geology will host an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, October 18, to celebrate Earth Science Week. Please stop by the Mineral Museum for some education demos. Then join us in the Publications Office for a 10 percent discount on publications, see some recent maps from the bureau mapping program, and enjoy refreshments. At 4 p.m. we will serve cake in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the publication Lite Geology.


49ers Celebration Schedule (Thu. 18 Oct, 2012 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm)

The first day of 49ers!! 

ASME is hosting field day events from 3 to 5 p.m. on the Athletic Field.

The Nerf Club is hosting games from 5 to 7 p.m. between Fidel and Speare.

University President Dr. Daniel H. Lopez will host a reception for alumni at his residence beginning at 6 p.m.

Music Night at the Olde Town Bistro from 7 to 10 p.m. Tech alumni and students will perform, with an all-star jam to close the evening.

Comedy Night featuring Jay Matioli is at 8 p.m. at Macey Center

Auto Racing Club Meeting (Thu. 18 Oct, 2012 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Auto Racing Club has weekly meetings at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays in Workman 101. Club members discuss upcoming events, vehicle maintenance and other topics related to auto racing. All are welcome to join.

Swing Dance (Thu. 18 Oct, 2012 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm)

Weekly swing dance held in the SAC. Everyone is welcome. Lessons held before the dance most nights. 8 to 10:30 p.m.

No classes today. Academic holiday for 49ers Celebration!

49ers Celebration and Alumni Homecoming (Fri. 19 Oct, 2012 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm)

This day is an academic holiday for the annual 49ers Celebration and related homecoming activities.

Alumni should register from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Fidel Center. Campus tours will be available throughout the day. An alumni reunion will be in the third floor ballrooms beginning at 6 p.m. with appetizers and a cash bar.

The 'M' Mountain Run starts at 9 a.m. Meet at the Athletic Field at 8 a.m.

The Student Activity Board is hosting a tailgate party and barbecue from noon to 6 p.m. on the Athletic Field.

The students vs. alumni rugby game will be at 4 p.m.

The Undie Run, hosted by the Alpha Sigma Kappa sorority, will be at 6 p.m. at the Athletic Field. Donate some clothes and help support a good cause.

The Alumni Office hosts a "Decades Reunion" in the third floor ballrooms of the Fidel Center. Come meet your former classmates.

The Waffle Club and Tea Club are hosting a rave from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the SAC.

Mystic India (Fri. 19 Oct, 2012 7:30 pm)

The Performing Arts Series presents "Mystic India," a visually stunning, vibrant Bollywood-style dance and music extravaganza. General Admission: $20/Adult; $18/Senior; $10/Youth. 7:30 p.m. at Macey Center. Free for Tech  students.

 

Waffle Club Rave! (Fri. 19 Oct, 2012 8:00 pm)

Waffle Club hosts another 49'ers rave in the SAC from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.!  Eat some waffles and dance your face off!

Game Room Tournament (Fri. 19 Oct, 2012 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

8 p.m. in the game room in the Fidel Center.

49ers Celebration Schedule (Sat. 20 Oct, 2012 9:00 am - 9:00 pm)

The annual 49ers Celebration continues.

Knife-throwing demonstration at 9 a.m. on the Athletic Field.

49ers Parade: lineup starts at 10 a.m. Parade begins at 11 a.m. The theme is "123 Years Of Miners Fighting Pirates."

Car Show at noon at Macey Center, hosted by the NMT Auto Racing Club.

Alumni soccer game at noon; co-ed soccer game at 2 p.m.

Reunion at the Bistro, featuring music by local bands, mostly students and alumni.

Casino Night at Macey Center begins at 4 p.m.; belly-dancing show at 7:30 p.m.; bordello show at 8 p.m., followed by the auction.

NMTARC 4th Annual 49ers Car Show (Sat. 20 Oct, 2012 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

The New Mexico Tech Automotive Racing Club is hosting its annual 49ers car show Saturday, October 20th from noon to 4 p.m. at the Macey Center parking lot. This event is FREE for students, alumni, and community members! We will have prizes and giveaways for participants.
