Earth Science Seminar (Thu. 10 Oct, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Dr. Nelia Dunbar, of the Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, will present the Earth Science Seminar. She will present "An Integrated Record of Explosive Volcanism in Antarctica: Blue Ice and Ice Cores." Hosted by Daniel Koning and Logan Robert. Sponsored by the Earth and Environmental Science Department. 4 p.m. in MSEC 101.

Physics Seminar (Thu. 10 Oct, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Michael Stock, graduate student in the Physics Department, will present the department seminar. His talk is titled, "Interferometric Observations of Intra-cloud Lightning." A state of the art lightning interferometer system at Langmuir Laboratory uses very wide bandwidth measurements to provide exceptional resolution and sensitivity to processes that comprise each flash. The added sensitivity allows the detailed study of features of lightning flashes which were difficult or impossible to study before. 4 p.m. in Workman 101.

FE Exam Review - Statics (Thu. 10 Oct, 2013 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm)

The campus chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society, is organizing study sessions for this semester's Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
Dr. David Burleigh of the Materials Engineering Department will lead the session on statics at 7 p.m. Thursday in Weir 102.
These sessions are open to students and recent graduates who are going to take the FE Exam. Participants are invited to come with specific questions for the professors. Tau Beta Pi organizers encourage students to be as prepared as possible before the reviews in order to maximize the effectiveness of the review sessions.
The FE Exam will be all day Saturday, Oct. 26, in the West Gym. This is the only FE Exam to be offered in Socorro this semester.

Swing dance in the SAC. 8 to 10:30 p.m.

Waffles (Thu. 10 Oct, 2013 10:30 pm - 11:30 pm)

Join the Waffle Club for free waffles and sometimes other things. 10:30 p.m. Thursday nights, outside the Fidel center on the north side by the Health & Counseling Center entrance.
