Guest Speaker (Mon. 11 Feb, 2013 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm)

Authors Rick Bass and Dennis Sizemore will present a special talk hosted by the Humanities and Social Sciences programs. They co-wrote The Black Rhinos of Namibia and will talk about Round River Conservation Studies, a science-oriented nonprofit that offers several semester and summer student study abroad programs. Student Research Symposium Deadline (Mon. 11 Feb, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Today is the deadline for students to register to present at the Student Research Symposium. Students interested in presenting must submit their extended abstract by this date to give either an oral presentation or a poster presentation. Registration forms are online. Guidelines and criteria for extended abstracts, oral presentations and posters are available at the Student Research Symposium’s website. The registration deadline is noon February 11, 2013, but those interested are encouraged to register early.

INBRE/Biology Seminar (Mon. 11 Feb, 2013 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Dr. Elizabeth Walsh, of the University of Texas-El Paso, is the guest speaker for a seminar hosted by the Biology Department and INBRE. She will talk about on her research, "Chihuahuan Desert Waters: Habitats Favoring Cryptic Speciation in Zooplankton." 4 p.m. in MSEC 195.
