 xico State University\, will present a Physics Department seminar at 4 p.m
 . Thursday\, Nov. 1\, in the third floor ballroom of the Fidel Center. Vog
 t will present\, “The General Education Astronomy Source (GEAS) Project: E
 xtending the Reach of Astronomy Education.” In New Mexico\, the doubling o
 f the statewide requirement for laboratory science courses at the college 
 level represents both an opportunity to further aid in the development of 
 math and science skills in our general population\, and an added barrier t
 o degree completion. Vogt will discuss the compelling need for alternate a
 venues for teaching science in New Mexico. She will present a set of NASA-
  and NSF-sponsored resources to aid in teaching astronomy at the college l
 evel\, including an online tutor with 12\,000+ questions\, an instructor r
 eview interface\, and a set of laboratory exercises accessible via distanc
 e education.</p>
