SOCORRO, N.M. – Television phenom and ground-breaking magician Mike Super will bring his inventive stage show to Macey Center to open the 2016-2017 Performing Arts Series season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 15.


Mike Super will kick off the 2016-2017 PAS season with his captivating show on Thursday, Sept. 15.


As the winner of NBC's hit TV show "Phenomenon" and top finalist on "America's Got Talent," Mike is the only magician in history to win a LIVE magic competition on primetime U.S. network television and voted America's Favorite Mystifier! His appeal to both young and old has made him one of the most sought after mystifiers in the world. Join the journey of emotions from laughter, intrigue, danger, fear, wonder, anticipation, tears and sentimentality that only Mike Super delivers.

The Magic of Mike Super is more than just a show; it's a community event that redefines art, theater and magic as you know it. This impressive production utilizes state of the art theatrical elements featuring an interactive UV stage set, video projection, cutting edge magic and illusions, dramatic lighting and energetic, digital music.

"The Student Activities Board brought Mike Super to Socorro a few years ago, and students really liked him," said PAS Director Ronna Kalish. "This will be a bigger show, which I know everyone of all ages, will thoroughly enjoy. I have heard nothing but glowing reports on this show from other colleges and venues."

Mike's production has the built-in benefit of universal appeal, but still maintains its artistic integrity. It can be described as a great Broadway play, meets a rock concert, meets the hilarity of a headline comedian, immersed in original, eye popping, visual deception! Together, people of all ages and backgrounds share in a memorable theatrical experience that instills the belief that anything is possible!

Throughout the show, Mike takes the audience on a journey through various emotions. There's laughter, intrigue, danger, fear, wonder, anticipation, tears, and sentimentality. He has astonished millions of people with his craft, including the Hollywood elite. Mike has performed for Jeffery Katzenberg, Ellen DeGeneres, Jay Leno, Kenny Chesney, Criss Angel, Regis Philbin, Craig Ferguson, Kim Kardashian, Carmen Electra, Disney's Raven Simone, Joan Rivers, Gary Shanling, and Robin Leach to name but a few!

"Mike Super does not do a run-of-the mill magic show; it's got mystical appeal and lots of fun," Kalish said. "Not only was he a finalist on America's Got Talent, which is pretty big in itself, he also won a major T.V. network magic competition on NBC's 'Phenomenon.'"

Mike's ever-growing popularity has garnered him many prestigious awards and honors, including being the only magician in history to win a live magic competition on prime-time US network television. In addition, his other accomplishments include being named Entertainer of the Year, Best Performing Artist of the Year, Best Novelty Performer of the Year, and he was voted America's Favorite Mystifier on NBC's hit TV Show "Phenomenon". Despite all of this, Mike humbly insists, it is the loyalty of his fan base that has been most rewarding. His legions of fans call themselves "The Superfreaks," and they number in the millions.

Mike started magic at the age of 6 on a trip to Walt Disney World which came full circle as he now currently appears periodically on Disney Cruise Lines in the Walt Disney Theater. Mike Super tours Performing Arts Centers around the United States and Canada.

Mike Super started doing magic at the age of six. He became interested in magic when he visited a magic shop in Walt Disney World. He saw an old man performing tricks and became fascinated. He idolizes Walt Disney, Harry Houdini, David Copperfield, and Doug Henning. He has performed magic to put himself through the University of Pittsburgh, where he majored in Computer Science.

Mike has won many awards for his talent. He was named 2011 Entertainer of the Year by the International Magicians Society. Campus Activities Magazine named him America's Best Entertainer of the Year. He has also won Novelty Entertainer of the Year. Additional awards he has won are from the APCA (Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities) and NACA (National Association for Campus Activities): 2003 Best Performing Artist, 2003 Best Novelty Entertainer of the Year, 2003 Best Male Entertainer of the Year, 2002 Performing Arts Entertainer of the Year, and 2001 Novelty/Live Entertainer of the Year.
