Paint Tech Teal Raising Assault Awareness

Paint Tech Teal is a month-long campaign hosted by the Society for Technical Communication (STC) Trinitite Chapter to promote April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Paint Tech Teal is an opportunity to create a community of support and understanding for victims and survivors, as well as provide educational information to potential bystanders. The STC’s goals for Paint Tech Teal are to spread awareness about resources at Tech, dispel myths about sexual assault in relation to gender, and to create solidarity among the student body.

Paint Tech Teal is comprised of student-led events. The events will be hosted by: QuASAR, Gainz and Grades club, Physics Club, the band “Cream Cheese Dream,” the American Association for Drilling Engineers club, Intervarsity, Student Activities Board, Alpha Sigma Kappa, and Kappa Sigma.

Almost every event will have an Awareness Table with STC-created informational brochures and wallet-sized cards that cover crucial topics like reporting resources on and off campus, the reporting processes on campus, and how to be an ally to victims and survivors.

Paint Tech Teal has flourished into a campus-wide campaign through the overwhelming support of administrative departments. These groups have donated customized swag, a tree, catering, printing, and space for events. These donations have come from many departments, including Student University Relations, Admissions, Advancement, Student Affairs, Residential Life, Chartwells, Auxiliary Services, and Facilities Management.
